Our Mission

You matter because of who you are. You matter to the last moment of your life and we will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die.

~ Dame Cicely Saunders, founder of modern day hospice

Our mission is to provide financial assistance to hospice patients and their families with dire financial need to improve their quality of life and ease the burdens accompanying a terminal diagnosis.

We envision a society in which all people leave this world feeling loved and cared for and without the emotional and financial burdens that often accompany a terminal diagnosis.

We help hospice patients of all ages, including Veterans, impoverished women on hospice, the homebound, homeless, and hospice patients in nursing facilities. We support aging and vulnerable people who have no resources to call upon at the end of their life.

Our support transcends the usual scope of hospice care by providing assistance for services not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance, and is available to patients regardless of which hospice provides their care.

We are governed by a board of directors who oversee our strategic plan and fund-raising.

A terminal illness can deplete life savings, causing great emotional strain at the end of life. Donations may pay for rent or utilities so that a loved one can stay at home at the end of their life. Or transportation costs to bring families together for one last visit. The possibilities are endless. Some of the ways the Foundation helps patients and families:

  • Paying rent, utilities and food bills so patients can remain at home to die

  • Granting last wishes to patients, such as a trip to a major league baseball game, a last trip to the beach, and help with veterinary bills for beloved pets
  • Providing basic necessities such as eyeglasses, dentures, and clothing to enhance dignity at end-of-life
  • Covering the cost of transportation for families who otherwise would not be able to reunite
  • Assisting with funeral costs for patients with extreme need, so that a dignified burial is possible
  • Providing specialized bereavement services to children to cope with the loss of a parent
  • Providing ramps, wheelchairs and chairlifts, so that patients can remain mobile for as long as possible
  • Assisting with medication co-pays which would otherwise be unaffordable for some patients

If you know of a hospice whose patients can benefit from our support, please contact us.
